The Vice President of Operations we are seeking is:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

LEADERSHIP

  • Effective Communication: Clearly convey key information across all levels of the organization and articulate the value of the company’s products and services to customers.
  • Team Development: Build strong relationships with your leadership team, empowering them to maximize their strengths and leadership potential.
  • Promote Cohesion: Foster solidarity and encourage team stability throughout the organization, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Strategic Integration: Work jointly with operational departments (Parts, Service, Truck Sales, and Leasing), to ensure the integration of strategic plans into daily operations.
  • Executive Management: Lead, motivate, and mentor executives and department heads, nurturing a culture of inclusion, accountability, and high performance.
  • Champion Company Culture: Advocate for a healthy work environment that reflects the company’s core values by supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and community engagement efforts.

MANAGEMENT

  • Goal & Strategy Collaboration: Partner with leadership to set revenue targets, operational policies, and outcome objectives for operational departments, focusing on daily management to maximize results.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead cross-functional teams to align initiatives with business objectives, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Performance Monitoring: Oversee departmental performance, ensuring financial goals are consistently met.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Strategic Human Capital Alignment: Align human capital development initiatives with broader company goals to support growth and success.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers to enhance the customer experience and drive positive outcomes; develop cooperative relationships with unionized team members and their local representatives.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Achieve Operational Excellence: Ensure key performance indicators and industry benchmarks constantly meet or exceed OEM expectations and internal goals.
  • Compensation Strategy Development: Contribute to the design of performance-based pay plans to drive desired operational outcomes.
  • Budget Collaboration: Work with the CFO and department directors to set budget targets for all profit centers.
  • Expense Management: Identify inefficiencies in people and processes and implement appropriate plans to eliminate waste.
  • Personnel Efficiency: Ensure that the right people are in the right roles to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead By Example: Demonstrate strong business ethics, patience, persistence, and a professional demeanor always.
  • Divisional Cohesion: Ensure alignment of goals, strategies, company culture, and profitability between dealership and leasing divisions.
  • Reporting & Strategic Support: Regularly report on company performance to the CEO and Board of Directors and assist the C-Suite with corporate strategies and fiscal management.


QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • Work Experience: 7+ years’ experience of operations leadership in a company with 250+ employees and with 5+ direct reports
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: 5+ years’ experience of managing cross-functional teams
  • Financial Management: 5+ years’ experience managing an 8+ figure P&L
  • Process Development: Experience developing and/or streamlining processes
  • Travel Capability: Valid Passport, active driver's license, and ability to travel internationally (including into Canada)

PREFERRED:

  • Industry Experience: Experience working with OEM manufacturers
  • Sector Expertise: Background in transportation, heavy truck and equipment, or dealership operations
  • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with CDK business system, Enrich, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Operations Management: Previous experience as a general manager overseeing fixed operations
  • M&A Expertise: Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and integration processes
  • Educational Background: 4-year college degree

DESIRED:

  • EOS® Champion: Familiarity with or previous experience using Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS®)
  • Family Business Insight: Experience working within a family-owned business
